Ford Superduty to Econoline Spring Perch Kit
Description:
Our 4x4 van conversion system for Ford utilizes your vans' original coil springs. You can read up on our reason for pursuing the coil spring version vs the leaf spring version here. We get the common question "can't I just use the truck springs?" The answer is yes and no. Some Superduty springs seem to line up with the buckets and some do not seat well. Additionally, the likelihood of your own spring rate matching a random junkyard pair of coil springs is pretty low. Those are a few of the reasons we offer a spring perch that give you a proper ride height while maintaining your vehicles' factory spring rate.
Our spring perch setup works with any E-series van gen 3 or gen 4 (1975-2021). We have (2) options for the perch. The most common (recommended) is the 4" perch which will give your van 5" of overall lift in the front and in conjunction with the rest of our components is sufficient to fit a 33"-34" tire on most rim configurations and 35" with some trimming and limited wheel options. This is a comfortable ride height. You can actually get in and out of the van with the kids, and it'll give you sufficient ground clearance to get out and about in the wilds.
We offer a 3" version of this as well. The 3" version is suitable for customers either really trying to keep their solid axle van as low as possible, or for custom applications where using a taller spring, stiffer spring, or when replacing parts on one of the more popular conversion vans. We found that the most popular brand of 4x4 van had a tendency to ride on the bump stops, hence our move to a 4" with the OEM springs.
If you're looking for a good spot to tinker with spring options, Moog offers scores of coil springs and has a catalog online.
Moog springs + E-series vans.
Years ago we ran a Moog CC880 and 880S which is a very popular spring for people trying to get the extra lift out of their vans both 2WD and 4x4. It is commonly used in a popular kit marketed to improve the ride quality of 4x4 vans. It does keep those vans off the bump stops, but that's the limit of the benefit we've been able to attribute to it. There are better ways to improve the performance of the common E-series 4x4 van. You can find options here.

Please be careful when removing and installing springs as great pressures are exerted when they are under load. Also, don't forget to save your plastic bushings from the original arms. These will be reused when installing our perches.
The original van bolt/nuts are torqued to 222ft-lbs and are often difficult to remove. The nut is much easier to remove than trying to remove the bolt side, so start there. You may need a breaker bar or HD impact gun.
