Ford E-series 4x4 Conversion Rear Lift Kit (Single Rear Wheel)

Description:

Our Ford E-series 4x4 rear lift kit is the most affordable and direct way to get the rear of your van lifted to match the front.

Wheel Adapters

The wheel pattern does not match on the Ford Econoline and Superduty. The Dana 60 front axle used in 2005+ Superduty axles utilizes an 8x170mm wheel pattern with 14mm by 1.5 studs while 8-Lug Ford Econolines have an 8x6.5 pattern with 9/16" studs. This axle also is a little more than 3" wider than the rear E-series Dana 60.

Our USA-made hard 6061 T6 billet aluminum adapters solve this problem by both spacing out the rear wheel track and matching the Superduty wheel pattern. With these adapters, you can run a 17" or larger wheel from a 1999-current Superduty wheel at all 4 corners and have a matching spare. We have used this same manufacturer for 10 years now without a single hiccup and there are hundreds of our vans with this same adapter on the road.

U-Bolts

Our U-bolts are made from USA-stock 5/8" steel and are bent up locally here in Colorado. They have a longer thread pattern than other manufacturers leading to increased versatility and easy installation.

Stem Shock Eliminators

The factory Econoline rear shock mounts with a stud to the bottom of the van sub-frame. This presents a few challenges. It limits the shock options and increases stress on the bushing with increased suspension travel common on 4x4 vehicles. Our kit includes a stud conversion kit that re-positions the mount down and back slightly while changing it to a typical Superduty/Dodge eyelet style.

Sterling Option

Changing your rear diff to a Sterling is a popular option. Like anything, this has its' own challenges. We provide minimal support for this procedure.

-You'll need to match up your ABS style.
-If your van has a single speed sensor in the center of the diff, your Sterling should have the same
-If your van has Dual ABS wheel speed sensors, your Sterling diff as well.
-It is possible to swap one of the later model Sterling axles into a van with the central diff sensor, but strap in. You'll need to pull the carrier, notch it to fit a reluctor ring from an earlier Sterling, then drill the housing, grind the mounting surface to match the depth of the gap between the reluctor and ring on your original van, and tap the housing for a screw to hold the sensor in place...but it works.
-The perches on the Sterling axle must be cut off and new ones welded in place which we supply. If you are running a single U-joint style shaft like we normally do, match your pinion angles between the van and truck axle. If you're running a high-lift van with a double U-joint at the T-case, the pinion angle should parallel the driveshaft tube.
-The E-brake cables can need massaging, when buying your axle, get as much of the E-brake cable as you can, we don't have a lot of support for this, but it's typically pretty straightforward and to be fair, U-Joint Offroad offers a kit for this and has a lot of experience swapping Sterling axles.

Shocks

For non-dually vehicles, we recommend the Bilstein 5100 shock. It has a softer ride quality than Fox and is more affordable. We've run them for years and they hold up very well. The shock we recommend is suitable for 1/2-ton to 1-ton vans with 4-7 inches of lift, using our stem shock eliminators.

5-Lug

5-lug E-150s. We don't normally recommend running a 1/2 ton axle if you're building a 4x4 van, but if you need 5-lug to 8x170 adapters for the rear of your van, please contact us directly for purchase.
