GM 4x4 van Sway Bar Kit
Description:
Our GM 4x4 van sway bar kit simplifies the process of repositioning your sway bar and links when converting your van to 4x4.
Switching from van-style to truck-style lower control arms during your conversion alters the mounting surfaces for the links. Maintaining good square geometry is required for performance and placement is crucial to preventing frequent link breakage.
How/Why:
Sway bar link placement varies quite a bit from 1" to 3" of lift, mostly due to the nature of independent front suspension design and how the control arms simultaneously move both up/down and in/out. Our design sets up your links with no pre-load at ride height. This provides optimal performance and link longevity.
Detailed instructions are included in the kit, but in short, our adapters are bolted up loosely with the vehicle on the ground and settled, at which point tightening the hardware in sequence naturally squares everything up with no pre-load.
It's common for other manufacturers to weld brackets or straps to the cast control arms, but we've seen these crack and break frequently, along with the links, hence these design improvements.
Our kit includes spacers brackets to push the sway bar forward, lower link mounting plates, appropriate hardware, and heavy-duty ACDelco Silverado sway bar links which have an updated design and are far more durable than factory van links. We have 2 lift options with different plate spacing: 0-1" of lift (common on Explorer 4x4 conversions), and 2-3" of lift. (common on Quigley and Timberline Vans.)
