Superduty to Econoline Spring Perch Kit
Our standard 4x4 E-series conversion setup utilizes your original van coil springs. You can read up on our reason for pursuing the coil spring version vs the leaf spring version on our E-series page, look for the Coil V Leaf Tab.
Bolting up a Superduty axle in place of your existing front end only adds about 200 lbs per front corner. There are widely varying spring rates across both vans and trucks. For this reason, we recommend keeping the spring rate you have which will ensure the highest ride quality. There are modes to run Superduty or other aftermarket springs, we have some support, but the perch method is our preferred design and consistently performs.
Lift & Tire Size Consideration
4" lift + 31.5" tires - Lowest lift recommended for solid axle E-series vans
4" lift + 33" tires - Daily driver grade ride height, very much a 4x4, typical Quigley stature
5" lift + 33" tire - Typical Timberline van, excellent balance of clearance/suspension travel
5/6" lift + 35" tires - "Boy howdy, that's a big van"
7-8" lift + 37/38" tires - Consistently photographed more than your neighbor's Lambo
Our spring perch setup works with any E-series van, gen 3 or gen 4 (1975-2021). We have (3) options available.
4" Perch (Most common)- Good for 5" of overall lift in the front. This perch used in conjunction with the rest of our components is sufficient to fit a 33"-35" tire on most rim configurations with no metal fender trimming. Some trimming of the plastic front bumper valence may be required when running 35s if you still have stock bumpers.
3" Perch- This is the lowest perch recommended for 4x4 conversions. It leaves a minimal amount of suspension travel before the bump stops engage. Travel on these vans is limited by the gap between the engine cradle and differential. We recommend running Sumo Bump Stops with this perch to mitigate harsh suspension compression. This is the same height perch found on Quigley vans.
6" Perch- This perch works well if you want additional suspension travel and are running a leaf pack in the back instead of lift blocks. We do have a Superbeef 6" lift block option that suits heavy vehicles the best. Note: Increased drag link/track bar angle can lead to tailwag on high-profile vehicles that do not have heavy-duty sway bars, Sumo Stops, airbags, proper sway bar links, etc. In other words, if you're running a 30" super camper top with a roof rack and stock front sway bar only, this is not the product for you.
Moog springs + E-series vans.
Years ago we ran a Moog CC880 and 880S which is a very popular spring for people trying to get the extra lift out of their vans both 2WD and 4x4. It is commonly used in a popular kit marketed to improve the ride quality of 4x4 vans. It does keep those vans off the bump stops, but that's the limit of the benefit. There are better ways to improve the performance of the common E-series 4x4 van. You can find options here.

1-10 (10 being most difficult) Level 2-3
Please be careful when removing and installing springs as great pressures can be exerted when they are under load. Also, don't forget to save your plastic bushings from the original arms. These will be reused when installing our perches.
The original van bolt/nuts are torqued to 222ft-lbs and are often difficult to remove. Remove the nut from the bolt, not vice-versa, and heat the nut up to melt the thread-locker if needed.
