Easy-wire GM 4x4 hub lock + Indicator Kit

The Easy-wire GM 4x4 hub lock + indicator kit is a stand-alone wiring system designed to activate the front hub lock motor and LED indicator light in your 4x4 GM van or custom project. While specifically tailored for GM vans equipped with the NP261 transfer case, it can also be adapted for various custom applications.

The IFS 8.25 and 9.25 AAM front differentials found in 1/2-ton and 3/4 ton GM pickups employ an electronic actuator to activate the front CV axles and lock the hubs. This eliminates the need to exit the vehicle to turn the hubs, but it does entail wiring to integrate the light, motor, and manual shift t-case. 


This kit utilizes the signal from your manual transfer case shifter to engage the hub lock actuator, subsequently triggering an LED indicator inside your vehicle as a reminder that 4x4 mode is engaged.

The harness isn't super complicated, but it takes time to construct and comes out much cleaner when it's assembled prior to installation. Our design has pre-determined lengths and junctions suitable for vans and pickups that have an under-hood fuse panel. The harness is fully sheathed,  junctions are soldered and heat-shrunk and any plug-connections are waterproof. 

Options include our standard GM conversion kit for the NP261 or a DIY XL kit with extra long wires. (end connections not soldered, t-case range sensor not included). You can choose whether you want a new AAM brand actuator (the most reliable brand) if you need it. **Standard GM kit is bench-tested on a new actuator prior to packaging. 

Fitment Designed for: 

Van Side - 2003-2022 Chevrolet Express 2500/3500/4500 series 4x4 vans with 8.25 or 9.25 front differential and NP261 or Magna transfer case.  

Generic Application - Any vehicle with 8.25" or 9.25" GM front differential, transfer case with stand-alone range sensor.

NP261 transfer case range sensor, waterproof connector, color-coded wiring harness with looming to lockout motor, fuse block, and in-cab LED light. Includes indicator light, and fuse jumper. All wiring is labeled. 

Construction Notes:

14 gauge wiring, plastic looming, OE motor pigtail, Dorman or AcDelco sensor, AAM hub lock motor if included. DIY Kit contains additional connectors, heat shrink, and hardware for non-solder installation. (standard kit does not require soldering) 

Tips / Skill Level:

1-10 (10 being the most difficult) Level 4 - Basic wiring principles required.

  • Shipping: Our components are carefully wrapped & packaged and shipped via UPS, USPS, or FedEx, depending on what is available. If you require a particular carrier, please contact us ahead of your purchase.  Customers in Colorado may arrange for in-person pickup within 1-2 business days of purchase. 
  • Shipping/Fulfillment time for components: We typically ship within 1-2 business days of your order and we carefully monitor our inventory. In the event that we are unable to meet that timeframe, we will contact you and arrange either a full refund or a timeframe for fulfillment agreeable to the customer. 
  • Taxes: Colorado residents must pay a sales tax of 7.5%, no sales tax is collected on out-of-state shipments currently. 
  • Quality and Returns:  We are consistently complimented on the quality of our products and the ease of installation. Fabricated components are generally hand-built here in Colorado by seasoned professionals. Replacement or aftermarket parts are only offered in high-grade options.

    If you are in any way disappointed in the components, we will issue a full refund less the cost of shipping when the product is returned within 30 days of receipt. If you decide to return any components that didn't apply to your build or you changed your mind about, a shipping +15 % restocking fee will be deducted from the refund.
