Ford E-Series 8x6.5 to 8x200 Dual Rear Wheel Adapters
Description:
Our Ford E-series dual rear wheel adapters take the guesswork out of converting your Econoline rear wheel pattern to match a Superduty front dually axle. There's a lot of information to pour through on these adapters so we've separated out the lift kit options for DRW vans which you can find on our site as well.
DRW Adapters are build to order and drop-ship from the manufacturer USPS. Lead time is between 1 and 2 weeks to produce.
Wheel Adapters
The wheel pattern on Ford Econoline and Superduty vehicles does not match. This can be a particularly sticky issue on dually vans, but we have worked through the design process and have excellent solutions to do so.
The Dana 60 front axle used in 2005+ Superduty axles utilizes an 8x170mm hub pattern with steel stub adapters that convert that to the common 8x200 pattern you'll see on F-350s from 2005-current.The Dana 70 and 80 dual rear axles have an 8x6.5 pattern with 9/16" studs.
Working with larger tires and higher offset rims can pose some challenges when working with E-series DRW vehicles. The leaf springs are already pretty close to the tires. The tires also sit pretty close to each other. Many people don't want the wheels to stick out super far, and in some vehicles like the Chinook, the fiberglass body complicates the matter further by limiting tire width. Along with all this, we're dealing with wheels that aren't hub-centric to the van axle, so we'll need a sleeve to center the wheels.
Our USA-made build-to-order 6061 T6 billet aluminum adapters work through this. The first adapter spaces the rim out 1" from the leaf springs for tire/wheel clearance while changing the pattern from 8x6.5 to 8x170. The center support is machined to center Superduty rims which have a center bore of 142mm.
Depending on what tire size you want to run, you can run from zero up to a 1" spacer in between the wheels. We have (3) different lug nut stud lengths for these.
Tires / Rims
Our design is based around running a 17" rim because they are the most common. You can run factory Superduty rims, either aluminum or steel. Fuel, Vision, XD, Ion, Ultra, and American Racing are all companies that build DRW aluminum rims that will fit. We've had pretty good luck with the Ion 167-7677FP and 167-7677FMB.
You can run all 6 rims aluminum or just the outer 4 and run steelies on the inner rears. Most 8x200 rims are going to be between 6 and 7 inches wide. It's fine to run down to a 235 on basically any of these. Going up, though, you're going to be in the clear until you get to 33" tires. At that point, you really need a 6.5" wide rim, and if you want to go to 315s or 35x12s, you'll need a 7" rim. If you want to run 315"s or 12.5" we'll need to make the first adapter a little thicker to clear the leaves, but your tires are going to stick out pretty far when all is finished. Call for any needs on the 35x12.50 tires option.

Disclaimer
You will have to cut the studs down on the original van rear axle shafts with our 1" wide primary adapter. This bothers some people, but it's the best way to keep the tires from sticking out too much. Depending on your rim choice and our data set, there's a chance you may have to either cut down the main studs slightly or run extra thread lug nuts just because there's currently more variability in the wheel market than we can solve for easily. We do our best to get it right, but as you can see there's quite a bit that goes into the equation.
Dodge Rims
Dodge factory aluminum rims have a lower wheel offset than Superduty wheels. Sometimes this can come in handy when trying to solve for tight clearance around the rear fenders, or trying to keep the rims/tires away from the leaves. The center bore on the Dodge rim is different even though the pattern is the same 8x200. We can build a set of adapters that will fit these Dodge rims, but the front Superduty steel hub adapters will have to be machined down about 1mm to fit the Dodge wheel center bore. We're working on offering a solution for this, but for now, it's on a case-by-case basis.
